MEET JIM BLUE
Jim has been married to Kay for 42 years. They have two children, Alex & Sagan, and three granddaughters, Charlotte, Athena, and Lyra.
Jim is an Emmy Award-Winning TV Journalist - News Director, Anchor, and Reporter. One month after 9/11, Jim boarded an Air Force cargo jet to fly over Afghanistan and report on the air crews performing humanitarian food drops to non-combatants. He has covered countless other stories, including hotspots in the Persian Gulf, Rwanda, Sarajevo, the Philippines, and Nepal. The Associated Press recognized Jim as Ohio's Best Anchor and Best Enterprise Reporter. .
Following his retirement from journalism, Jim joined the Charlotte County Democratic Party. He has worked as Precinct 34 co-captain, Communications Chair from 2017 - 2020, and as a Media Coordinator for Allen Ellison's Congressional campaigns in 2018 and 2020.
Jim loves to sail his 36-year-old Sabre 34, Cosmos, in Charlotte Harbor. He has participated in the citizen scientists' "Eyes on Seagrass" Survey. Jim is a 1974 graduate from the University of Illinois (Urbana).
Jim has been endorsed by the Florida Democratic Environmental Caucus and by Florida Planned Parenthood PAC in his campaign for the Florida House of Representatives.
He is also a PADI SCUBA diving Instructor and a private pilot. Jim recently rekindled his pursuit of Amateur Radio. His call sign is KY4PN.
