Jim Blue is an award-winning
anchor, reporter, and manager. From September, 2002 until June, 2008
Jim served as primary weekday anchor of
NBC24 news at 6, 7, 7:30, and 11 p.m. In 2006 the Ohio Associated Press
Broadcasters honored Jim as Best Anchor in Ohio. He is currently
seeking a position as an anchor/reporter, news manager, or media
relations specialist.
In August, 2007, Jim was the
first journalist to shoot underwater video of the Wreck of the Gen.
Anthony Wayne which sank in 1850 in Lake Erie. The Wayne,
discovered in Sept. 2006, is the earliest steamship wreck in Lake
Erie.
In September, 2005, Jim travelled
to the Persian Gulf to report on the deployment of Toledo's 180th
Fighter Wing in the Iraq War.
In May, 2005, Jim broadcast live
from 30 feet underwater as members of Toledo's Dive Rescue team
demonstrated how to recover a victim from a sunken automobile.
In 2004, he was honored with a
first place for Best Enterprise Reporting by Associated Press for his
investigation of internet sex predators. The story also was recognized
with an Emmy nomination.
Before NBC24 Jim was the primary anchor for the ABC
affiliate in Columbia, S.C. Jim has more than 25 years experience as a
broadcast journalist.
One month after the September 11,
2001 attacks, Jim traveled to Afghanistan to report on
America’s war on terror. His stories on the humanitarian food drops
to the Afghani people garnered Jim an Emmy nomination. Jim has also
reported from many of the world’s hotspots, including Bosnia,
Macedonia, and Rwanda.
Jim won an Emmy award for live
coverage of the search for a missing Dayton, Ohio, girl. He has won
numerous other awards recognizing his investigative reports.
Jim’s wife Kay is an Assistant
Professor in the Department of Developmental Education at Owens
Community College. Their son, Alex, is a senior in Aviation at
Ohio State University and an Air Force ROTC cadet. Their daughter,
Sagan, recently completed her International Baccalaureate degree at Li
Po Chun College in Hong Kong
and will attend the University of Southern California in the Fall of
2008.
When he isn’t at work, Jim
enjoys time with his family, sail boating, scuba diving, and flying.
